Trick or Treat Lies

They say it’s just a night for fun, wearin’ masks and runnin’ wild,
But the Shaykh done told me son, that darkness got a style.
When it’s dark, magicians come out, truth gets tried,
So I guard my heart with zikr, let the ego slide.


Ain’t no candy for the soul, when the veil get thin,
They sellin’ fear in costumes, dressin’ up the sin.
You can’t dance with the devil and still call it a joke,
So I light my inner lantern, keep the dhikr woke.


Haqq… Haqq… (Truth in the streets tonight)
Haqq… Haqq… (Keep your faith in the light)


See the Shaykh teach tafakkur, contemplation deep,
While the dunya talk cheap, playin’ tricks in your sleep.
Every night got an energy, every soul got a key,
What you open with your actions, decide what you see.


They say “ain’t nothin’ wrong with pretendin’ to fright,”
But fear feed the jinn when you call it delight.
So I stay humble, stay small, on the Sufi road,
When the dark comes out, I unload my load.


La ilaha illa Allah… (Truth echoes through the fight)

So I tell the youth straight, this ain’t no game,
Protect your flame, don’t chase the fame.
Say Ayat al-Kursi before you rest your head,
Let your home be a fortress, not the walking dead.


From Sacramento blocks to Medina streets,
It’s the same unseen, same battle repeats.
But with zikr on the tongue, light fill the dome,
When the Shaykh make du‘a, that’s protection at home.
