Why We Built Mystic: A Streaming Home for Halal Music and Nasheed
October 14, 2026

Why We Built Mystic
Mystic Meditation Records is a halal, Muslim-owned music and Nasheed streaming platform. It's built for listeners who want music that matches their values.
Here's why we started, what we believe, and where we're going.
The gap we kept seeing
For a long time, Muslim listeners have had two imperfect options.
Option one: mainstream platforms
Mainstream platforms carry a lot of content that may not reflect your values. You press play on a playlist, and within a few songs you're reaching for skip.
You turn the volume down when your parents walk in. You check the lyrics before playing something in the car with your little cousins. Music that should help you relax keeps you on guard.
Option two: scattered files
The other option is a scattered handful of nasheed files. They get passed around in group chats and YouTube playlists, with no real home.
A track a friend sent three years ago. A video with audio you love and a title you can't remember. Good music, hard to find, and harder to keep.
Why neither works
One option asks you to compromise your values. The other asks you to compromise on quality and convenience.
Mystic exists to close that gap.
Faith and quality shouldn't be a trade-off
You shouldn't have to dig through unrelated content to find music that fits your life. And you shouldn't have to settle for low production value just because an option is halal.
Mystic is our answer. It's one calm, well-made space where nasheed, [spoken word], and halal music live together.
We think halal music deserves the same care as any other music:
Strong vocals
Clean production
Thoughtful artwork
An app that feels good to use
When you open Mystic, you shouldn't feel like you're settling. You should feel like you've found a home for the music you actually want to hear.
Rooted in purpose
Mystic Meditation Records was founded by Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi. His purpose was clear: to awaken souls through the remembrance of Allah ﷻ and the love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ.
That purpose guides everything we release. It's why the catalog leans on remembrance, gratitude, and love of the Prophet ﷺ.
It's also why we take care with what we add. A track can be catchy and still carry meaning. The best ones do both.
Muslim-owned, by people who listen
Being Muslim-owned matters to us. The people building Mystic share the same questions as the people listening to it.
We know what it's like to want music that fits the whole of your life. From the morning commute to the quiet moments after Isha.
What makes Mystic different
Built for how you actually listen
Think about the moments in your day [moments/playlists to confirm]:
A nasheed to start your morning
Something reflective for your commute
Focus music for a long study session
Something upbeat for the gym
Music for family time and long road trips
Something calm to wind down before bed
Mystic is [organized around real moments in your day], not generic genre tags. Instead of asking "what genre do I want?", you can start with "what do I need right now?"
Made for every listener and every audience
Our nasheeds and halal music are made to hold up in any setting. Personal reflection, family time, the kids' car ride, a community gathering.
No disclaimers. No second thoughts about what's playing in the room.
That goes for spaces, too. Cafés, shops, and gyms can play Mystic knowing the music fits the customers who walk through the door.
Rooted in tradition, open to every genre
The catalog draws on Salawat, Qawwali, Naats, and classical nasheeds. These are the devotional traditions many of us grew up hearing at home and in the masjid.
Alongside them sit modern sounds like hip hop and reggae. Tradition and modern style aren't in competition here.
A young listener might come for the hip hop and stay for the Salawat. A parent might come for the classical nasheeds and find something new for the drive to school.
A growing library, curated with care
We're not trying to have everything. We're trying to have the right things: music and nasheeds that meet a standard, not tracks that just fill a catalog.
Every artist on Mystic is part of that standard. Meet some of the voices behind it on the Mystic Artists page, including [Layla Zahra, Bilal Reggae, Sultan Osmanli, Ali Uthman, Umar Gonzalez, Khalifa Abdul Hamid, and Muhammad Ali Khan].
Who Mystic is for
Students who want focus music without lyrics pulling their attention, and a playlist for their next MSA event.
Young professionals who want something calm for the commute and something clean for the office.
Parents and families who want music they can play with the kids in the room, without checking every track first.
Businesses like cafés, shops, and gyms that want background music that matches their customers.
Anyone who loves music and loves their deen, and is tired of feeling like they have to pick one.
Where we're headed
This is early. [Every week] we add new tracks, new playlists, and new features, based on what our community tells us they need.
Want more of a certain style? Missing a feature? Have a playlist idea? Tell us.
Mystic is being built with our community, not just for it. The ideas you send shape what we build next.
